Do you have an affinity for something that you wish you knew more about?

You know, like a love for a band and its role in developing your favourite style of music; a fascination with entrepreneurship, breeding a dream of opening your own business one day; or maybe even a passion for history and philosophy and how it can be applied to one’s everyday, modern life (in the great words of Taylor- it’s me, hi!).

💡 📚 💡

One of the greatest joys about being alive today (in our humble opinion, anyway), is how accessible learning has become. Wherever you are and whenever you’re there, it’s become easier than ever before to go from having a question, to finding an answer- all in an impressively short amount of time. Most of us are lucky enough to be able to simply reach into our pockets, take out these little super-devices that fit in the palm of our hands, and access endless bouts of information.

That being said..

Have you ever felt like there’s SO much to learn, SO much to know, that it feels as though there’s too much to be caught up on, and you simply.. can’t keep up?

I mean, there’s SO much to know! The list is practically endless. The digital age has enabled us to look into how to do ALL kinds of things at an impossibly fast pace.

Want to start a band? Youtube it!
What about building that online business? There’s a course for that!
How about recording your very first podcast? Here’s a complete how-to, deliverable by, you guessed it, a podcast!

It can so easily feel like there’s TOO much information out there to know what you should know and learn, who you should learn it from, and whether the information you’re learning is even useful given how fast things evolve and change.

We hear you.

Furthermore, we’d like to offer you an alternative perspective that just may quiet that pesky overwhelm and centre your focus.

✍️ ✨ ✍️

Instead of suffering at the hands of paralysis by analysis, what if you had a guidepost, or a mantra of sorts, that you could turn to in the face of feeling swamped by the ‘to-do or not to-do’?

Here’s what we’re offering:

✨ Focus on what you love, and learn everything you can about it.

It’s really that simple.

With a million possibilities available to you with where you can start- why not start with that?

The reality is, learning in general takes something that we all seem to not have enough of these days.. and that, my friends, is time. There is no shortcut to the process of learning, be it through reading books and articles, listening to albums and interviews, or taking pen to paper and writing down all that we see, hear, and experience.

Choose that thing that makes you excited to wake up every morning, and BE all about it.

Learn everything you can about it, without the impetus to rush the process. Shed the pressure you’re putting on yourself to go from amateur to master in the blink of an eye, and instead, embrace the experience that comes from the process of learning, bit by bit, page by page, day by day. It’s this process that is precisely what learning is all about.

Life, my friends, is school.

And once we hit a certain age, it’s US that gets to decide what we choose to learn and focus on improving. Whether or not it feels that way, it’s all up to us to either embrace learning by our own hand, or instead, live life on the run from it, and rush the learning that life thrusts upon us.

All of the historically great artists, scientists, businesspeople and thinkers of our world that we look up to have this one major thing in common- and that is that they have dedicated themselves to what they love, in some way, shape, or form. They have committed themselves to not only the process of learning, but to the time it takes to learn; and in doing so, it’s not only shaped who they are, but we’ve all benefited from it, too!

So this week, we place a humble offer at your feet, and it’s completely up to you whether or not you choose to accept any (or maybe even all!) of the below:

  1. Read a book on a topic that interests you. Word by word, paragraph by paragraph, page by page. No skipping ahead, no rushing forward. Let yourself learn something.

  2. Listen to an album that you haven’t listened to before by one of your favourite artists. Whether you’re on a drive, a run, or just laying on the bedroom floor- tune in, without the distractions. Let yourself learn something.

  3. Give yourself a set amount of time to sit down and research something you have been meaning to learn more about (we at say yes like to call this dreamsearch, so you’re totally welcome to call it that too). Maybe it’s about what it takes to start an online business. Or, it’s about giving yourself more understanding on a political issue you don’t quite understand. Maybe, it's about learning a language you have always dreamed of knowing how to speak. Let yourself learn something.

Whatever you choose to do, don’t rush it.

Let yourself dip your toes in the water of both dreaming and learning, at the same time.

Be a student of your life.
